Frontier Models :: Model Aircraft :: Civil Aircraft :: Piper PA-18 Super Cub

Piper PA-18 Super Cub
Piper PA-18 Super Cub
The Super Cub is without doubt the best known aircraft from the Piper Corporation, the name of which became synonymous with the desire to fly sporting planes. The PA-18 was introduced in 1949 and for decades it determined the image of the Piper Aircraft Corporation. To this day, this immortal aircraft continues to be its own successor. Its simple, robust construction was continually developed and upgraded with more powerful engines. The Super Cub is a strutted high-wing monoplane with tubular steel airframe and fabric cover. Production finally came to an end in the 1990s. In total over 40,000 of the Cub and Super Cub versions were built, which makes it the most numerous aircraft of its class. In addition to civil versions, due to the interest shown by various air forces, military versions were also produced, the best known being the L-18C. This aircraft was also used by the German Air Force for selecting and training aspiring pilots.
